SUMMARY:Remote Patient Monitoring in the NHS: From Promise to Practice (Manchester)
DESCRIPTION:Speakers and more details to be announced soon! \nRemote patient monitoring is a cornerstone of the government’s 10-year plan to get the NHS ‘fit for the future’. It could support earlier detection of health problems\, better assessment of treatment response\, and more proactive self-management. While there have been promising examples of success\, most initiatives to date have taken place as pilots or within research settings. As a result\, remote monitoring largely remains an ambition rather than routine practice. Realising its potential depends on a well-connected health ecosystem\, where policy makers\, healthcare providers\, academia\, industry\, and citizens collaborate to develop scalable\, sustainable\, and equitable solutions that integrate patient-generated data into electronic health records and clinical pathways. \nIn this Greater Manchester Ecosystem meeting\, speakers from across the system will share perspectives on how we can move remote patient monitoring in the NHS from promise to practice. Join Digital Futures and The University of Manchester\, at the next the GM Connected Health Ecosystem series\, and connect and collaborate with NHS and NHS-related staff\, SMEs\, academics and researchers\, innovators\, and those passionate about improving health and care! \n\nOriginal event page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/remote-patient-monitoring-in-the-nhs-from-promise-to-practice-tickets-1978828492289

SUMMARY:Making Social VR Safe\, Accessible\, and Meaningful
DESCRIPTION:It’s been a hot minute\, but we’re back with another event at Colony King Street on Wednesday\, 29th April. We’ll have a full news update (lots to unpack there)\, a talk from Virtuware Founder Hamza Qureshi on Social VR\, plus a few demos to dive into.  \nWe’re also very excited to be helping baptise the new Colony King Street co-working space as they once again open their doors to our own particular brand of tech meetup nerdery. \n\nSchedule\n\n6:00pm: Doors open\, registration\, demos and networking.\n7:00pm: Immersive News & Community Updates\n7:30pm: Main speaker: Hamza Qureshi – Beyond the Chaos: Designing Safe\, Accessible\, and Meaningful Social VR.\n8:00pm: More networking and demos.\n9:30pm: Event end\, after-drinks (venue TBC)\n\nTalk Details\nBeyond the Chaos: Designing Safe\, Accessible\, and Meaningful Social VR\nWith massive social platforms already dominating the VR landscape\, why build a brand-new one? In this talk\, Virtuware founder Hamza Qureshi will share the strategic decisions and real-world challenges behind creating his new social platform\, StageTime. Drawing on years of experience building massive VR spaces and working inside major social platforms\, Hamza will explore the specific gaps he identified in the market. He will discuss how existing platforms often cater heavily to hardcore ‘enthusiasts’ at the expense of casual users\, leading to bloated interfaces\, chaotic environments\, and high user friction. This session dives into the realities of designing a virtual ‘third place’ optimised for standalone headsets\, human-centric expression\, and healthy community building. Attendees will leave with candid insights into what it takes to build a seamless and meaningful immersive community from scratch.\n\nAbout Hamza\nHamza Qureshi is the Founder of Virtuware Ltd\, an immersive technology company based in MediaCityUK. He has been building experiences in virtual reality since 2016\, initially making his mark by creating one of the most popular karaoke spaces in VR. After spending several years working internally at VRChat\, Hamza took his deep understanding of virtual communities and founded StageTime – a platform dedicated to immersive social experiences. He is passionate about the evolution of the metaverse\, community building\, and the unique design challenges of social VR.  \nDemo Details\nTBC

SUMMARY:AI in Healthcare Conference 2026 - Revolutionising Healthcare Through Intelligent Innovation
DESCRIPTION:How can artificial intelligence transform healthcare delivery while ensuring safety\, equity\, and public trust? \nAs the NHS faces mounting pressures\, from rising patient demand to an overstretched workforce\, artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly viewed as a critical tool to support and reshape healthcare. The UK Government’s Medical Technology Strategy and A Plan for Digital Health and Social Care highlight AI as central to building a smarter\, more responsive health system\, with over £150 million invested through the NHS AI Lab to scale innovations that can improve diagnosis\, treatment\, and efficiency. Yet challenges persist\, AI adoption remains patchy across trusts\, clinical safety assurance and regulatory clarity are still evolving\, and concerns around data quality\, bias\, and explainability limit frontline confidence. Bridging the gap between policy ambition and real-world implementation remains a key hurdle. \nThe Institute of Government & Public Policy’s AI in Healthcare Conference 2026 will bring together system leaders\, clinicians\, policymakers\, researchers\, and innovators to explore how AI can be safely\, ethically\, and effectively embedded into healthcare pathways. This conference will provide a platform to address the complexities of AI adoption\, from infrastructure readiness to clinical validation\, and showcase what success looks like across the NHS. \nJoin us at the AI in Healthcare Conference 2026 to hear from pioneering NHS trusts\, health tech trailblazers\, and national bodies driving digital transformation. Explore the future of diagnostics\, personalised medicine\, clinical decision support\, and AI governance\, and gain insights to guide your organisation’s AI journey. Don’t miss out\, secure your place at the conference today. \n1 Stadium Wy\, Eccles\, Manchester

SUMMARY:Health at a Tipping Point: Innovation\, Investment and Impact
DESCRIPTION:This event explores how health and care can evolve in the face of rising demand\, limited resources and changing public expectations. We’ll examine what drives real adoption of health tech\, from medicines and devices to digital and AI. Asking the questions is AI a friend or foe\, how cyber-secure our data really is\, and what the rise of the health consumer means for service design and delivery.\n\n\n\nWith sustainability under pressure\, we’ll also tackle how the system can do more with less\, and why social care remains the missing piece in creating truly joined-up care.\n\n\n\nThis event will highlight what this means in practice and how businesses can align their innovations to local and national priorities.

SUMMARY:Institute of Government & Public Policy AI in Healthcare Conference 2026
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\nHow can artificial intelligence transform healthcare delivery while ensuring safety\, equity\, and public trust?
