Free webinar: The Health Chatbot User Guide — using AI chatbots safely for health (28 Oct, online)

October 28 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

AI chatbots are already in your patients’ pockets — the question is whether anyone has told them how to use them safely. The HDR UK Midlands Incubator for AI & Digital Healthcare hosts a free one-hour webinar on Wednesday 28 October 2026, 4–5pm (via Zoom) introducing the Health Chatbot User Guide, presented by Dr Elinor Laws, Public Health Registrar and NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow at the University of Birmingham.

Most general-purpose AI chatbots were not designed for health questions — but patients are using them anyway. This guide is aimed at both patients trying to get safe value from chatbots and clinicians who need to advise patients who have already used them. Dr Laws, co-chair of the Faculty of Public Health AI and Digital Public Health SIG and involved in the STANDING Together project, brings a population-health lens to AI safety — including what it means for health inequalities.

For founders building conversational AI into NHS pathways, this is a useful window into how the research community is framing the patient-safety problem (and what clinicians will be told to look out for).
